Saturday & Sunday, May 2-3, 2009, 10:00 am to 1:00 pm
1520 Shasta Acres Rd, Mount Shasta 96067

A mandala becomes a sacred image imbued with transcendent awareness if it possesses required characteristics, has qualities of peacefulness, and is beautified by exact measurements and proportions.

The Mount Shasta Friends of Tibetan Culture will host a 2-day drawing class offered by Venerable Lobsang Tsultrim, an ordained Tibetan Buddhist Monk, where each participant will be drawing a Tibetan mandala and will have an opportunity to meet with the instructor during the week following the classes to receive further assistance. The community is welcome to participate.

Fundraiser for Mount Shasta Friends of Tibetan Culture
No Current Movie Nights Scheduled

In January 2009, we began showing an eclectic variety of films regarding the Dalai Lama and/or Tibet for the purpose of raising funds to support events in 2009 that introduce and enrich the awareness of Tibetan Culture in our Community. In particular, we generated funding to support sponsorship of the Gaden Shartse Monks in May and the administrative costs to cover some of those expenses. Enjoy a bowl of homemade soup and then join us for a pre-selected Dalai Lama film at 6:30 pm. Love donations accepted.

Tibetan Buddhist Monks from Gaden Shartse Monastery
May 21-26, 2009

Sponsored by Mount Shasta Friends of Tibetan Culture

The Shartse Monks will begin public events in Mount Shasta on May 21st and will be here until May 26th. We are hoping to generate enough sponsorship for the Monks to create a sacred sand mandala again for the community, various teaching and cultural events and group healing sessions for the ill which have all been very popular in the past. World Peace presentations at the schools will not be possible due to summer vacation; however, we may be able to plan a Children's Day.

The Mount Shasta Friends of Tibetan Culture are beginning to make scheduling and logistic plans as well as reviewing topics of interest. Those who would like to participate in meal preparation or food donations, please email Della.
